Slashfood reports that nutmeg sold under the Whole Foods 365 brand and the Frontier brand (also sold at Whole Foods) may contain salmonella. More information here.
The Lunch Tray can’t serve as a comprehensive source of information about food recalls — sadly, there are just too many out there for me to stay on top of. But when I learn of one that seems likely to affect TLT readers, I’ll always pass on the information.
Seriously? Effing nutmeg? Ground, I presume, but still. Our food system is soooooo broken I just don’t even know where to start!
Hmmm, this isn’t the first time that Whole Foods and Frontier have had spices recalled this year; there was a pepper recall in March (also salmonella).

it is starting to feel like shopping at Whole Foods is just as risky as shopping at a conventional grocery store. Oh yeah, a lot more expensive too!
Oh my. Thanks (I think) for sharing.
