Ever since President John F. Kennedy created “National School Lunch Week” back in 1962, we’ve set aside a week each October to promote school meals and highlight their importance in nourishing our next generation.
This year, National School Lunch Week falls on October 10th – 14th, so Moms Rising is devoting its regular Food Friday tweet chat on October 7th to discussing healthy school meals. I’m thrilled to be one of the guest hosts and I hope you’ll join me there! Just follow along using the hashtag #FoodFri from 1 – 2pm EST.
Also, next week I’ll be sharing with you an exclusive, free tip sheet created by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to encourage you to make a “school lunch date” with your child and to help you get the most out of the experience. We’ll be asking you to post here on The Lunch Tray any photos and impressions of the date that you’d like to share.
So get that school lunch date on your calendar now, and I look forward to chatting with you about it next week!
