Dear TLT’ers:
Happy New Year! I hope you and your families are safe and well, and I think speak for all of us when I say that 2021 couldn’t get here fast enough. I wish you nothing but good health and greater happiness in the months ahead!
And with the start of this brand new year, I’m also excited to announce a brand new project:
After ten wonderful and fulfilling years of blogging here, today I’m officially closing this WordPress platform (though it remains live and searchable) and launching a new weekly Substack newsletter under the same name!
My first issue will go out tomorrow—January 7th—and I’ve had so much fun putting it together. I modeled it on the kinds of newsletters I most enjoy, meaning it will be an easy-to-scan weekly rundown of all the kid/food news and info I find interesting or important. You’ll able to quickly find the topics that most interest you, while also staying up-to-date. I think you’re going to love it!
Why the Switch to Substack?
This blog has been a “labor of love”—in that I truly loved writing every one of its 1,550+ posts for you! But my efforts were also uncompensated, while Substack allows freelance writers like me to charge a modest fee for our work.
And in the case of The Lunch Tray‘s newsletter, the fee really is modest: the introductory rate for a monthly subscription is just $4—less than one fancy Starbucks drink! I hope you’ll find that this small fee is more than offset by my skillfully curated content and decade of expertise in this area.
Can I Read It for Free Before I Subscribe?
Yes! The newsletter will be free for everyone until March 3, 2021. And after that date, you can still read it at no charge, but in the form of a monthly, condensed digest that will lack some of the breadth and timeliness of the weekly posts.
How Do Start Receiving It?
If you’re already one of my newsletter subscribers, you should start receiving the newsletter automatically. (If you don’t see it in your inbox, though, be sure to check your spam folder or Promotions tab.) If you’re not a subscriber, or not sure if you are, you can just sign up directly here. (If you were already on the list, it’s fine—you won’t receive duplicate mailings.)
How Can I Help Spread the Word?
Why, thank you for asking! 🙂 Here’s a Click to Tweet you can use on Twitter, and you can also send friends and colleagues this link.

💕 TLT’ers, I can’t thank you enough for your interest in and support of my work these last ten years! 💕 I hope you’ll stick with me as I switch over to this exciting new format, and I wish you all the best in 2021!
